Maria Fritz was a self-taught San painter from the Kalahari region whose work celebrated the natural world and local ecological knowledge. The San people are one of the world’s oldest continuous cultures; these works are where history meets a contemporary visual language. Working in oil and watercolor, her paintings explored the flora, fauna, and traditional narratives of her community.
Proud Mary acquired this original work through Omba Arts Trust, an organization that since 2002 has worked alongside emerging San artists in remote regions of Namibia.
